Attorney Jani Loyo Ramos

Attorney Jani Loyo Ramos

Jani Y. Loyo Ramos’ familiarity with the immigrant struggle derives from her own first-hand experience. As a teenager, she emigrated from Acapulco, Mexico to the United States. Her journey and trials inspired a dedication to law and the pursuit of justice.

She earned a double degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas before pursuing her Juris Doctor from American University’s Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. During her legal education, Jani served as a legal assistant in the Maryland Public Defender’s office and also held a position as a student attorney at the Civil Defense Clinic at American University. Her conviction was exemplified as she fought for homeless defendants and represented clients in civil matters in the D.C. and Maryland courts as well as the administrative agencies. Drawing from her experiences, she began teaching constitutional law and oral defense skills to D.C. high school students as a part of the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project. After graduating, she became a judicial clerk for the honorable Hiram E. Puig-Lugo in the D.C Superior Court, gaining extensive experience in courtroom proceedings and trial strategy.

Jani is licensed to practice by the District of Columbia and specializes in immigration law.
